Mr. Joseph Kruger II, our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, was admitted to the rank of Officer into the Ordre de Montréal (Order of Montréal) on November 25, 2020, in recognition of his contribution to the City. The virtual announcement was made by Ms. Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montréal.

The Ordre de Montréal is the City’s highest distinction. It was created in 2016 as a legacy of Montréal’s 375th anniversary.

In bestowing him this prestigious distinction, the Council of the Ordre de Montréal is paying tribute to Mr. Kruger’s many achievements as a visionary entrepreneur and head of the Kruger family company of which he has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 1988.

While Mr. Kruger’s long-term outlook is the bedrock of our Company’s resilience and success in the global marketplace, he is deeply attached to his Montréal roots and therefore takes great pride in the fact that Kruger has always maintained its head office in the City and is a flagship of the local economy.

As one of the most prominent investors in Montréal, Mr. Kruger diversified the Company’s operations at a time when pulp and paper companies were put to the test by a changing global economy. After three decades under his leadership, Kruger stands out in ten industry sectors, including paper products, containerboard, packaging, renewable energy, recycling and biomaterials.

Having focused on modernizing our operations while ensuring the responsible management of resources, Joseph Kruger II has truly embraced the principles of sustainable development.

His role as a benefactor has not gone unnoticed, especially his support of education, scientific research, healthcare, environmental protection, community organization and entrepreneurship.
